Room 7&8 participated in a class debate today. After watching the New Zealand short film, The Six Dollar Fifty Man - a film about a boy who gets bullied at school, we had a discussion about what bullying actually looks like. Students split themselves into two sides, one side argued that bullying was a series of repeated acts aimed at hurting the other person, the other side argued that bullying could be teasing, or one off comments, that could un-intentionally hurt the other person. As a result of the debate we discovered that it can mean different things to different people and that other factors, like someone's life outside of school, can influence how people see teasing as bullying or not.
