This afternoon we started our Term Three Inquiry.
‘The Four dimensions of Hauora’
To get students thinking about Health and Hauora we looked at the picture book by Colin Thompson ‘The Short and Incredibly Happy Life of Riley’
This prompted brief discussion
Then students had to quickly draw a healthy person.
Then jot down any words that describe a healthy person.
We discussed our diagrams and words before grouping them into categories
After this the class were introduced to ‘Te Whare Tapa Wha’ - The Four dimensions of Hauora. We made comparisons and started to collate our thoughts.
Taha tinana (physical well-being),
Taha hinengaro (mental and emotional well-being),
Taha whānau (social well-being), and
Taha wairua (spiritual well-being).
Learning intentions:
- Assess student’s understanding of health and wellbeing.
- Increase knowledge and come to a common understanding of health and wellbeing / Hauora
- Introduce and discuss ‘Te Whare Tapa Wha
