  1. Book Review - Mr Eames
Title: The Recruit (Book 1 of the Cherub Series)
    Author: Michael Muchamore

This is a fictional story about James, a boy from a troubled background living in England who finds himself part of a secret intelligence organisation called Cherub. Whilst at Cherub he undergoes intense secret agent training. En-trusted with government missions, the book follows James and his friends as they delve into the world of the secret agent.

I really like how the main character James makes lots of mistakes and sometimes looses his cool. This makes him a very realisitc character and is a good example of how your mistakes don't have to define who you are.

Title: Shadow Wave (Book 12 of the Cherub Series)
    Author: Robert Muchamore

This book is about James Adams who Mr Eames has described perfectly

James has been at CHERUB for at least 6 years and has a chance to go on a final mission but weirdly doesn't take it but he does have a chance to do something very risky that puts his CHERUB courier at risk.
It's a very thrilling story were the unexpected can happen a tanytime

In Pakistan boys a put above girls and she was stopped from going to school, she was very determined to go to school never the less as her mother couldn't read. Every turned to look at Malala causing her to get shot.

Luckily she was sent to America and made a miraculous recovery.

  4. Book Review - Finn Mit
    Title: The Divide
    Author: Elizabeth Kay

This is a fictional book about a boy called Felix, and he has a fatal heart disease. His parents take him on the holiday of a lifetime to Costa Rica, where they visit the continental divide, the place where the waters from the Atlantic and Pacific oceans separate. However, when Felix faints over the top of the divide, he gets transported into another dimension where mythical beasts are real and humans imaginary. The book is about his adventures in this crazy world.

I like how the main character, Felix, is not your normal main character in the way that he has a heart problem. This shows that anybody can be a hero and you can still do good things if there is something wrong with you.

  6. Title: The Mortal Instruments; City Of Bones
    Author: Cassandra Clare
    Warning: SPOILER ALERT
The first book in the amazing, fictional book series 'The Mortal Instruments' is jam-packed with action and romance. The main character Clary finds herself thrown into a world of Shadowhunters, demons and downworlders. She falls in love with her brother* Jace while her best friend Simon gets kidnapped by drunk vampires and is rescued by Isabelle, Alec, Clary and Jace. The plot has well-developed ideas and is realistic and really suspenseful.

What I like about the book is that the plot has many different ideas but but they all fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. I also really like the originality of the characters.

Overall, the story is memorable, the characters are original, and I would definetly reccomend this book to people who like fantasy, action or romance.

  7. Title: Divergent
    Author: Veronica Roth

Divergent is a dystopian book and is the beginning of a thrilling 3 book series which is one of my favourite series of books! Divergent is about a time when humans live in factions. There are 5 factions Dauntless, Erudite, Abnegation, Candor and Amity. Tris is a 16 year old girl and about to choose her faction. To help the 16 year olds to choose there factions there is a test, the test is a simulation where they go experience a scene and how they react helps determine what faction to choose. But there are some the simulation doesn't work on, they call it divergent. When Tris chooses Dauntless it is a huge shock for her family! In Dauntless they are known for bravery and doing such things as jumping off trains and zip-lining off 100 story high building! Tris meets lots of new friends in Dauntless but will they make it into the top ten after initiation.

This is my favourite quote in the book. ''Fear doesn't shut you down, it wakes you up, and thats what makes you dangerous!''

  9. Title: Artemis Fowl (The entire series!)
    Author: Eoin Colfer

The Artemis Fowl series are some of my favorite books. They have a rather unusual topic; fairies + criminal master minds. They are targeted at boys, however, i have really enjoyed them. It is about a 12 year old boy, artemis fowl the second ( a criminal mastermind), who decides to get back the family riches. his method in doing so: Fairies.

For hundreds of years the fairy population has lived under the ground to escape the probing eyes of "mud men" (humans). Artemis fowl (the second) manages to track down a fairy, get hold of "the book" (where the fairy rules/ coat of conduct is written). Using this information, he manages to capture LEP recon fairy captain Holly Short. The LEP (Lower Elements Police) must race the clock in order to rescue Captain Holly Short, and deal with the danger surrounding Artemis Fowl and his fairy knowledge.

This is a great series, and everyone should read it, even if they find it a bit weird at first.

  15. Title: Mandela's Way - Lessons on Life
Author: Richard Stengel - preface by Nelson Mandela.
I think that this book is very well written and has a lot of hidden messages in the text about Mandela's life. The author in the back of the book writes that he has spent 2 years with Nelson as has grown very attached to him. This book is about the life of Mandela and the struggles he went through to gain race equality. It also represents the way Mandela lives his life and states the different lessons he has to offer. It is not just a book full of lessons though, as it is about his life in prison and how he became elected as president. I would recommend this book to everyone as it is a very good read and is about "one of the most influential people of all time"

      Title: I, coriander
      Author: Sally gardner

I was born in the year of Our Lord 1643, the only child of Thomas and Eleanor Hobie, in our great house on the River Thames in London. Of my early years I remember only happiness. That was before I knew the world had such evil in it, and that my fate was to be locked up in a chest and left to die. This is my story. This is my life.

I loved reading about Coriander. Rich vocabulary and amazing language. I was enthralled from the first page and would definitely recommend it to others.
I, Coriander is a book which twists fantasy into reality. It took me by surprise having such an unexpected change of genre, but it was very effective.
Coriander Hobie lives in peacefully in London, know nothing of her parents pasts but
unsuspecting. Then her life changes dramatically after the reigning king of London is executed, starting with a pair of mysterious silver shoes to her mother passing away with no explained reason and a warrant for her father's arrest as he has been smuggling supporters of the king out of England. Her father has to flee the country leaving Coriander with her stepmother and an enraged preacher who hates coriander right from the start and treats her terribly, ending with her being locked in a chest and left to die.
I won’t say what happens next but the tale goes on in a fantastic adventure, where she discovers pieces of her mother's past and tries to work out who she is, coping with magic, evil, darkness and light, while trying to save the people she loves. Beautifully written.
      I loved this book. :)

  24. Title: The Battle of the Labyrinth
    Author:Rick Riordan

Percey Jackson is dyslexic, which might interest some students, as he found it harder to read things for example, the word blur off the page. Percey tries to stop Luke from getting the string which would help him get through the Labyrinth. But they got it and a battle between camp and Luke’s army. I like listening to this story on an audio book because I can just imagine what is happening kind of like a movie. I found that the story was exciting which made me want to keep going to find out what would happen next.
The story made me think a bit about achievement because they had to solve each problem that they came to and I started thinking how I could get around problems I might find in my normal day life.

    Tittle: Then

This is a book About two Jews called felix and zelda, they spend ages hiding and running away from the natzies. Until one morning when they see a dog, not a natzie dog but a friendly one. They decide to follow it, it leads to a nice woman who decides to look after them. She changes their Jewish names from felix and zelda to whillem and violetta, gives them clean clothes, food and a place to stay.

I am really enjoying this book at the moment, I have already got the book after this ready to read. In silent reading time having this book actually makes me want to read. Title - The son of Neptune
    Author - Rick Riordan

WARNING - THIS HAS ***MASSIVE SPOILERS*** SO IF YOU WANT TO READ THE BOOK DON’T READ THIS.
The Son of Neptune is the second book of the second series of the Percy Jackson universe (Percy Jackson, Kane Chronicles, Heroes of Olympus). The book starts off with a great start with Percy being chased by gorgons with his memory lost, apart from a memory of Annabeth, his girlfriend. He then finds Camp Jupiter, a camp for young demigods. He immediately makes friends of Hazel and Frank, and an enemy of Octavian, the camp Augur . Through the entire book Percy get a feeling of wrongness from the Roman side of the Greek gods. He is then sent on a quest with Frank, Son of Mars, and Hazel, Son of Pluto, to find and destroy Alcyoneus and free Thanatos (Death). On the way he find out that Polybotes army is marching towards Camp Jupiter to destroy it. Even though he hasn’t been at Camp Jupiter very long, he still loves it like Camp Half-Blood Eventually he tricks the seer Phineas into drinks gorgon's blood (the poisonous type), while he drinks the healing type of gorgon’s blood. He then proceeds with Hazel and Frank the glacier where Alcyoneus has made his base and chained death. The trio then proceeds to free death and kill Alcyoneus, then return to Camp Jupiter with a load of imperial gold and the Legion's eagle, which is Fulminata, ‘Armed with Lightning’. They then proceed to defeat Polybotes army, and Percy is made Praetor along with Reyna. The next morning Camp Jupiter gets a Holoscroll from Leo at Camp Half-Blood. The story finishes with the Argo II flying down towards New Rome.

I really liked the story because it switched between three points of view, Percy’s, Hazel’s, and Frank’s, and because it had a lot of humor in it. It was also especially good if you had read the Percy Jackson and the olympians series because you recognized Percy.

Book: The Lord of the rings
    Author : J.R.R. Tolkien
The Lord of the Rings is a fictional story about a Hobbit called Frodo Baggins Who holds a ring that can the dark lord Sauron power over the world The book is all about the adventures Frodo goes on to destroy the ring in a volcano in Mordor which is the enemies strong hold

I really like how the book just draws you in and you just want to read more and even though there are about 1000 pages and lots of words on each page. I would recommend this book to others if you are an avid reader because it is quite a good book if you understand it and the ideas but if you don't I suggest wait until you're a better reader.

  40. Book Review - Nicola Ross

    Title: Big game

    Author: Dan Smith

Armed with only bow and arrow thirteen year old Oskari set out into the cold Finland wilderness, of his homeland on an ancient trial of manhood. But instead of hunting animals he finds an escape pod shot down from an Air force plane by a group of terrorists, who have shot down the president of the United states of America and are on there way to capture him. Even if Oskari and the president can escape them how will they be able to survive in the wild by themselves.

I like this book because of the way the writer has set out the story line, it reels you in at the beginning of the book, because you want to find out what happens at the end of the book. I would recommend this for people who like adventure stories.

  43. Class A
    By Richard Muchamore

‘Class A’ is an exciting story about a spy organisation called cherub. Instead of using adults, they use children. The book is mainly focused on James Adams, a twelve year old boy from a troubled background.
James and three other kid spies along with two adult agents are sent on a secret mission to help gain knowledge on the drug scene in England. They do this by becoming friends with the man at the top of it, but they never have known the fights, guns and car chases that they would encounter along the way. Robert Muchamore makes this book a lot more interesting and thrilling by using descriptive words, sentences and phrases.

I think this book is suitable for kids aged over 10 and older, and i would rate this book 8/10 stars.

    Title: Holes
    Author: Louis Sachar

In this book Stanley Yelnats had been taken to Camp Green Lake for being accused for stealing Clyde Livingston (famous baseball player) shoes that had been donated to Homeless Home Care.
Camp Green Lake’s quote is “When you’re a bad boy, you become a good boy”, do you think that’s right. At Camp Green Lake you dig one hole every day, if you found something the warden would like you would get a day off.
Ever since Stanley Yelnats been there he had made friends.
X-Ray, Squid, Armpit, Zero & Magnet were the friends of Stanley.
More comes to this story within Stanley's ancestor's history.
Find out more in the book. Go ahead and read, it's what you can do.
